A lot of yards hit a point where the landscape beds have shrunk over the years, weeds have taken over, and the whole front of the house just looks tired. That's exactly what we were dealing with here. The beds needed to be pushed out, the shrubs needed a good trim, and the whole property needed a fresh layer of mulch to pull it all together.
We started by clearing out the weeds and redefining the bed edges before anything else went down. That part matters a lot - if you just throw mulch on top of overgrown beds, it looks sloppy within a few weeks. Getting the edges clean and sharp first is what makes the finished product hold up and look intentional.
Once the beds were prepped and expanded, we laid fresh black mulch across the entire property - front, sides, and around the large trees out back. Black mulch does a great job of making the green plants and grass pop, and it gives the whole yard a clean, uniform look. It also does real work under the surface, holding moisture and blocking weeds from coming back.
The shrubs got trimmed and shaped as part of the overall landscape installation work, keeping everything tight and proportional to the house. No overgrown branches creeping across the brick, no uneven shapes throwing off the look. Just clean, well-maintained plantings that frame the home the way they're supposed to.
This is the kind of work that makes a noticeable difference from the street. It's not complicated, but it has to be done right - the right amount of mulch, clean bed lines, and weeds fully removed before you start. When those pieces come together, the result speaks for itself.
